A note from john
It’s been an exciting few weeks since the last newsletter! First, I’m proud to announce that I have earned my accreditation in public relations! It was a challenging journey, but I am grateful for the support and guidance I received throughout the process. This achievement is a testament to my commitment to excellence and my passion for the field of public relations. I encourage anyone in the public relations field to consider going for their APR. Do you need it? Probably not. Is it worthwhile? Absolutely. Getting my APR was a career goal of mine and I’m so happy that I crossed the finish line.
In addition to this accomplishment, I had the pleasure of attending the Game Developers Conference (GDC) for the first time. The event, which took place in San Francisco, brought together game developers, industry professionals, and enthusiasts from around the world. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the gaming industry. I was particularly impressed by the emphasis on diversity and inclusion, as well as the growing interest in game-based learning and education.
Speaking of San Francisco, I also had the chance to return to the Moscone Center after about five years (obviously, Covid and me moving to Los Angeles were factors.) While at GDC I was amazed at how big it was! I got some good meetings, including meeting Dean Takahashi of VentureBeat!
Also, on March 30th, I attended a panel discussion hosted by PRophet.ai, which focused on the topic of how AI is transforming the future of PR and communications. The panelists included Aaron Kwittken, CEO and Founder of PRophet and Comms Tech Cloud CEO of Stagwell Global; Ed Clarke, CEO and Founder of Cometrics; and Bobby Lincoln, COO and Co-Founder of PeakMetric. The conversation was moderated by Doug Dawson, GM of Global Communications at Microsoft. ChatGPT is all the rage and in the world of PR there is good discussion on AI and how we in the PR industry can best use the technology. Overall, the discussion left me feeling excited about the potential of AI to revolutionize the PR and communications industry, while also emphasizing the need for balance between technology and the human element.
Thank you for your continued support for me and for Jmac PR. Until the next newsletter!
