The Challenge
InMobi is a mobile advertising technology company with main operations in APAC, EMEA, and the U.S. Its mobile-first platform allows brands, developers and publishers to engage consumers through contextual mobile advertising. InMobi has raised a total of $320.6M in funding. Jmac PR worked with InMobi through a previous working engagement with their Global SVP of Marketing. Given InMobi’s current funding status, the company still did not have top of mind brand awareness among its key target publications and audiences in the U.S. Our work was to help increase InMobi’s brand awareness and executive visibility among the U.S. key target publications and media journalists.
Strategies
With a proactive earned media relations approach, we worked with the InMobi U.S. PR team to focus on key areas, e.g.:
- Newsjacking: continuous following of news to offer up InMobi executives to provide commentary for inclusion in roundups or to serve for a net new PR opportunity
- Announcements: InMobi has a regular cadence of announcements, including from their subsidiary Appsumer, which we then merchandised to media using the embargo pitching model
- Bylines: InMobi’s content studio would provide op-ed pieces that the Jmac PR team would then pitch to select publications for earned media publication, especially among the trade media
- Events & Awards: The Jmac PR team constantly updates the InMobi PR team on upcoming events and awards that might warrant a speaker proposal or awards submission
Results
Through our efforts, we’ve achieved the following select outcomes:
- InMobi named to the Business Insider 2021 and 2022 “Hottest Adtech Companies” annual list
- Cultivated open lines for InMobi Co-Founder Kunal Nagpal with Seb Joseph of Digiday, and Lara O’Reilly of Business Insider, where these two contacts now regularly reach out to Kunal for commentary on industry topics and trends
- Secured 30+ pieces of earned media coverage totalling 1.1B impressions for the Appsumer Benchmark Report in Fall of 2022, including coverage from TechCrunch, Venturebeat, CNBC.com, Forbes, Campaign, Mediapost
