A note from John
Hello everyone,
Welcome to the February newsletter! I hope you’re having an excellent start to 2023.
First, let me say that, without stating the obvious, the economic downturn hasn’t been good. It saddens me to see people losing their jobs and see a handful of friends impacted. While many stories claim we’re not technically in a recession yet, a recent poll of economists found that two-thirds of respondents believe there will be one in 2023. However, the poll says this recession will be ‘relatively mild and short.’ As one who’s lived through the Great Recession of 2008, the post-9/11 downturn, and the Dot Com Bubble Burst, it doesn’t make it easy, but what I go back to is that market corrections are normal. What goes down must come up. Always try to think optimistically here.
That said, since our last newsletter, some updates to share.
Welcome Seb Moradi our new Account Supervisor, and Jacob Lafazio our new PR Intern! The team continues to grow and we’re very excited!
We also say hello to a few new clients who started in January, a digital agency, and the other is a VR game developer. Of course, advertising and marketing will always be in our wheelhouse. However, I do like the experience we gain from working with brands in the VR/AR arena. I bought my first Meta Quest 2 in January (a work expense), and I think VR is pretty cool.
Thank you to Hillary Read for participating in a Q&A with us! And thank you for your years of friendship going back to 2013.
It’s official, I’m a board member of the PRSA-LA Chapter and serving as Treasurer. I enjoy giving back to the PR community and volunteering to help and support my fellow PR colleagues and friends.
Thank you to Jody Fisher of the PR Podcast for having me on!
That’s it for now. Until next time!
